Culture as Liturgy? You Become What You Worship
This is a highly recommended lecture from James KA Smith on Culture as Liturgy. He lays the foundation by exploring anthropology and contending that man has an innate desire to worship and that this manifests itself in the liturgies that we participate in. He also has great insight into eros as being an important component of our makeup as humans. Well worth the hour if you’re interested in these types of topics. Here’s a link to a great review from my friend, Rev. Nick Smith, who also highlights Smith’s emphasis on Christian worship as being formative liturgy: http://www.nsmithfam.org/writing/desiring-the-kingdom
