Nationalistic Pride Dies at the Cross

Jesus is the only hope for the nations, for Israel, for Iran, for North and South Korea. Lasting unity only comes through Jesus, who absorbed in his body the hostility and animosity people have against one another. Our goal as Christians is not to make a name for ourselves or even our country, but to see all of the nations exalted in Jesus. Jesus killed ethnocentricity and nationalistic pride on the cross.
Of course we are called to love our neighbor, to seek the Shalom of our earthly abode, and to advance the common good, but these are subordinate. May the Lord over the nations grant us repentance where our zeal for the preservation of the city of man has exceeded our missionary zeal for the lost, where our hatred for Arabs and disdain toward the sexually perverse has blunted the glorious truth that Jesus came to seek and save the lost and that it’s the goodness of God that leads all sinners to repentance. May we long for the unified kingdom under the Lordship of the Alpha and Omega.
